Song Chosen For YR13 Coursework Music Video

Before we chose our final song at the time, Windows by Joint Honours, we had several other contenders for the throne. These included "Matrix" by 2-Kings and 30 Miles High. The reason why we did not chose these is because at first we were fearful that the electro background ambient sound would overbear over our voices and lose us marks for our overall production. In addition, we also wanted clearly auditable lyrics so the audience can understand what we are saying as well as it being more realistic to find a setting for the filming, which 2-Kings and 30 Miles High did not have for us.

We also explored an elctro themed song by ClubDope but decided against it because it would be difficult to find an appropriate mise-en-scene for the music video and props due to it being a nightclub themed song and obviously it would be difficult to film in a nightclub due to several legal factors that the owners/managers have to take into effect.

Joint Honours are a British alternative Rap/Pop band originating from Derby. Since their formation, they have performed at the London O2 Arena, been featured on BBC national radio and amongst other events have performed at Berby's olympic torch event. The band have since gone from strength to strength and are expanding their albums to more countries worldwide all the time. Thier latest album release is "Lucky Number 8" relaesed in 2013 and features our chosen song "Windows". The band members comprise of Simon Marles, David Jackson, Adam Stone and Max Chambers.

The overall reasons why we did intially chose the band is due to its clear leyrics and iconic tune that we beleive that we can make an effective music video out of it in order to achieve top marks in our coursework. The track in particular "Windows" was chosen yet again due to its iconic beat and the simple lyrics make it easily adaptable into a music video.
