Purposes
- To promote an ideology or idea to the public.
- To generally promote the band or artists music to the worlds in an innovative way that can lead to success, such as Queens “Radio Ga Ga” music video becoming a smash hit in the 1980’s.
- To expand on an artist’s already good or bad success in order to make more profit for their record company.
- To hopefully create an iconic music video so people will associate a certain thing with a certain artists i.e love with Maroon 5.
Conventions
There really is no right or wrong answer with music video
conventions but there are the most common found.
- Innovative and use many different camera angles to keep up with the fast pace of the song, common with pop, hip-hop and rock music videos.
- Can be slow paced to match the genre, i.,e country music.
